Citizens National Bank Appoints New President and CEO

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Citizens National Bancshares of Bossier City, Inc., is pleased to announce Jason D. Smith as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Citizens National Bancshares is the holding company of Citizens National Bank, a locally owned community bank with twelve branches in five northwest Louisiana parishes. Smith began his banking career in 1990 and joined Citizens National Bank in 1994. He has held positions of increasing responsibility throughout his Citizens National Bank career and prior to his promotion, served as Executive Vice President.

Smith holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana Tech. Additionally, Smith graduated from the American Bankers Association’s National Commercial Lending School (University of Oklahoma, 1996), became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 1999 (currently inactive) and graduated from The Graduate School of Banking of the South (Louisiana State University, 2002).

Smith has served the community as a member of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2007-2015. In 2013, he was elected Chairman of the Bossier Chamber Board of Directors. In addition, Smith is a founding board member of the Shreveport-Bossier Business Alliance for Higher Education, founding President of the Airline Alumni and Friends Association, and served as a board member of the Greater Bossier Economic Development Foundation, board member of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the LIONS Club of Bossier City.

An advocate for the Banking Industry, Smith has served on the Louisiana Bankers Association’s Government Relations Council. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Bankers Education Council, serving as President in 2008. He has taught countless financial literacy classes for adults and children throughout Northwest Louisiana.
